Description
Deconstruct the EU AI Act and AI policies from a ‘compliance burden’ into a ‘competitive framework.’ This session will explore how research evidence and industry standards can turn regulatory requirements into a seal of quality to drive and differentiate European AI adoption, sustainability, and leadership.

Giovanni Bonati
Manager, Gruppo Maggioli and Digital Innovation Advisor
Giovanni Bonati serves as an advisor to the Italian Parliament, the European Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean on matters related to digital transition, research and innovation. A member of the Technical and Scientific Committee for Digital Transformation of the Lombardy Region, Bonati also advises the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato on innovation projects for public administrations and citizens. As President of the Associazione Cittadinanza Digitale, Bonati holds executive and advisory roles in public and private organisations focused on emerging technologies.

His work in ENFIELD focuses on AI policy frameworks, Energy optimisation & sustainability, and the intersection of AI based Smart-City with green industrialization. He actively contributes to formulating AI policy recommendations aligned with the EU AI Act, aiming to foster sustainable, transparent, and ethically aligned AI ecosystems.

Alberto Casanova
Senior Project Manager, Gruppo Maggioli
Alberto Casanova is a Senior Project Manager at Maggioli Group, specializing in the lifecycle management of research and innovation initiatives across multiple EU funding programmes, with a primary focus on Horizon Europe. Alberto is the project coordinator for GenSEMICON, a Horizon Europe project focused on generative AI and software engineering, and leads the policy and exploitation activities for ENFIELD, an EU Network of Excellence on Green and Trustworthy AI. His broader portfolio includes contributions to EU projects spanning AI, cybersecurity, XR, e-health, digital cultural heritage, and Industry 4.0, with a specific emphasis on translating research outputs into scalable market value and policy impact.
